Free anagram solver
Turn a jumble of letters into possibilities for your crossword or word game. What Word Fits uses every letter once, with no ads, no account and no charge.
How to solve an anagram
- Open the Anagrams tool and enter your letters, such as listen.
- Select Find words to see dictionary matches such as silent and enlist.
- If you know part of the answer, add a pattern in Known letters. For example, s????? keeps six-letter answers beginning with s.
Missing some of the letters?
Use a question mark for each unknown letter. lett?? can find letter: the two question marks supply exactly two letters. Repeated letters matter, and every letter or question mark must be used. A star is not accepted in anagram letters.
Find a word or a dictionary phrase
Enter an answer length such as 6 for six letters in total, or an enumeration such as 3,4 for a three-letter word followed by a four-letter word. Spaces, apostrophes and hyphens do not count as letters. Multiword results must be phrases already present in the dictionary; the tool does not invent combinations of unrelated words.
Quick searches, even away from a connection
Choose Save dictionaries as I search to keep the files you use in your browser. Later searches reuse saved files instead of downloading them again. Saving as you search is off by default. For any supported anagram while disconnected, download all dictionaries for offline use before you travel.
Which words are included?
The word list includes British, American, Canadian and Australian English, alongside uncommon dictionary vocabulary. Check any proposed answer against the dictionary used by your puzzle or game. If you have fixed positions rather than letters to rearrange, try the missing-letter word finder.
